QR
QR is the name of the Government-Owned Corporation (GOC) who owns the Queensland rail network and operates trains on it. QR's former names through the years have been "Queensland Government Railways", "Queensland Railways" and, until 1999, "Queensland Rail".Thanks to the National Competition Policy, introduced by the then-Labor Federal Government in 1995, QR must make their network open to third party operators who want to run their trains on QR's tracks. Third party access is administered by QR's Network Access Group. See also: GOC |
