Description
The Cairns Tilt Train Three times a week, this Tilt Train makes the return journey along the Queensland coast, offering residents and holiday-makers alike more efficient and convenient access to regional centres and tourist destinations throughout Central and North Queensland.

Business Class seating provides for both work and recreation This is a completely different style of travel to existing Cairns services, and also offers improvements over the Rockhampton Tilt Train. It boasts comfortable Business Class seating throughout and suberb passenger facilities, including personal audio-visual entertainment systems.

Like the Rockhampton Tilt Train, which commenced services in 1998, the new Cairns Tilt Train represents the very latest in rail technology and is the most modern passenger train in Australia.

The new Tilt Train service travels the eastern Queensland coastline from Brisbane in the south to Cairns in the tropical north.

The train services all the major coastal cities and communities, including St Lawrence, Sarina, Mackay, Proserpine, Bowen, Home Hill, Ayr, Townsville, Ingham, Tully, Innisfail and Cairns.

With a maximum speed of 160 km/h, the full journey between Brisbane and Cairns is 24 hours and 55 minutes over a distance of 1681 kilometres, an average of 67 km/h. The existing Sunlander train in comparison takes at least 31 hours.
