QR Citytrain:
About your authority to travel

All passengers travelling on Citytrain services must be in possession of a valid ticket before boarding the train. A Citytrain ticket is valid for use up to and including the last service scheduled each day as per the Citytrain timetable. The last scheduled service usually operates in the early hours of the following day.

A ticket for the entire journey must be purchased, at the Ticket Office of an attended station or from a Ticket Vending Machine, prior to boarding a train. Ticket Vending Machines accept coins ONLY, not notes. Tickets cannot be purchased onboard trains.

A Citytrain ticket issued to a passenger remains the property of QR, cannot be validly transferred to someone else and may be used only for the journey stipulated on the ticket. (i.e. date, type of journey and between stations nominated).

To avoid delays and missing trains, ample time should be allowed, for purchase of a ticket before boarding a train.*

'On-the-Spot' fines apply to all persons, travelling without a ticket or travelling beyond the station listed on the ticket, without reasonable excuse, or refusing to produce a ticket when requested by Citytrain Staff.#

Regular passengers can save both time and money by purchasing a pre-paid Weekly, Monthly, Three-Monthly, Six-Monthly or Yearly ticket.

Single and Return tickets are available for travel up to the last service scheduled for day of issue. Break of journey is NOT permitted on a single ticket but is permitted on a return, weekly or season ticket.

NOTES:

* A passenger wishing to purchase a Weekly Ticket from an unattended station should buy a single ticket from a Ticket Vending Machine and present it at the destination station, during station hours on day of purchase, where it will be credited to the cost of a Weekly Ticket from that date.

# Some passengers have been identified as being unable to use a Ticket Vending Machine, due to a physical or intellectual disability. Those persons may board a train from an unattended station without a ticket and purchase a ticket from a destination station. If proof of a disability is required by Citytrain Staff on a train or at a station, a Health Benefit Card may be presented.
