QR Citytrain:
On Time Running
There are several items to note when planning your journey:

Efficient boarding
To assist the train operators arriving and departing on time please observe the following practices:
  • Arrive at your Station in ample time to purchase tickets and to board safely. Usually 5 minutes will suffice.
  • When the doors open, wait for passengers to get off before you start boarding.
  • Once you board, please move away from the vestibule area, down the aisle. If no seats are available, you can use the handles attached to seat backs and the ceiling.
  • On approaching the destination station, return to the doors and be ready to leave the train once it has stopped.

Early running
Trains normally proceed at the safest but most efficient pace possible. Sometimes this means that trains run early through stations, especially in the off-peak. This is a good reason for getting to the station 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Operating Practices
For QR CItytrain, the general rules of thumb appear to be:
  • All times are referenced to Australian Eastern Standard Time (or UTC plus 10 hours).
  • The departure time is literally when the train is due to start moving. The guard starts the whistle up to 20 seconds before time.
  • Correct departure times are always checked at the commencing station, Roma Street and Central. However if the train is terminating at the City (Roma Street or Bowen Hills), trains will be allowed early through Roma Street and Central.
