QR Citytrain: You and the law The Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Act stipulates standards for purchase of tickets and behaviour on trains and at stations to make passenger travel comfortable and secure and to preserve the property of QR and passengers. The Act also makes provision for 'On-the-Spot' fines to be issued, or court prosecutions to be implemented where offences occur under the Act. These offences include: Offence 'On-the-Spot' Fine Travelling by rail/bus without paying correct fare or obtaining a ticket $150 Failure to pay correct fare if unable to do so before travel $150 Failure to produce ticket $150 Entering or leaving railway property other than by a designated entrance or exit $150 Crossing railway line other than by a designated crossing $150 Dirtying seat of railway carriage/placing feet on seat of a railway carriage $150 Consumption of food or drink in train $150 Smoking on railway $150 Putting graffiti on a railway $150
